We are seeking a dedicated, skilled Pre- and Post-Operative Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong nursing background and experience in pre- and post-operative care, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate should expect a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care to patients, monitoring vital signs, and recovery progress.
• Administer medications and perform IV infusions as prescribed.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and accurately document medical records.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure continuity of care and effective communication.
• Educate patients and their families on pre- and post-operative care instructions, including pain management and recovery expectations.
• Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.

Skills
The ideal candidate should possess a variety of skills, including but not limited to:

• Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Surgical Information Systems (SIS)
• Experience in acute care settings, including ICU, emergency medicine, and/or trauma medicine.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices.
• Ability to perform procedures such as phlebotomy, venipuncture, and airway management.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse patient populations, including those with developmental disabilities or geriatric needs.
• Experience in pain management techniques and acute pain management strategies.
• Competence in using diagnostic evaluation tools and conducting physical examinations.

The Ambulatory Surgery Center of Westchester (ASCW) is a state-of-the-art outpatient surgical center in Mount Kisco, NY, and has many of the finest surgeons in Westchester and Putnam Counties.

Please note: ASCW is an independent facility. We are NOT part of the Optum or Caremount network.

An ambulatory surgery center (ASC) is a healthcare facility for procedures that don’t require an overnight hospital stay but are too involved for a physician’s office.

At ASCW, patients have their procedure in a modern operating room with specialized staff and board-certified anesthesiologists, recover in our post-anesthesia care unit, and go home the same day.
